Information Support & Prosthetics & Orthotics Coordinator

PBC Solutions is looking for a Regular Full-Time Information Support & Prosthetics & Orthotics Coordinator!

Position Summary:
This position reviews, researches, and responds to a variety of enquiries from the public and providers and is responsible for assessing and processing pharmacy registrations, provision access, payments, enrolment agreements, and prosthetic and orthotic pre-authorization requests. The Coordinator is also accountable for maintaining PharmaCare and PharmaNet master filles. The Coordinator works closely with the Ministry of Health.

This position is designated as a Grid level 16, with an hourly range of $35.15 - $40.60.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Responds to enquiries including pharmacy registrations, payments, banking information, agreements, drug benefit and pricing information, pharmacy software, prosthetic and orthotic related issues.
  • Reviews and processes pharmacy registrations, payments, agreements by:
    • Validating documentation/information from providers and accepting/rejecting requests accordingly.
    • Monitoring and maintaining PharmaCare Enrolment Agreements, Methadone and Plan B Agreements.
    • Calculating and processing payments for Long Term Care (LTC) per diem invoices; 
    • Creating patient eligibility authorizations for Cystic Fibrosis and Practitioner Special Authorities.
    • Corresponding with public/providers to explain policy decisions and to seek or provide information.
    • Resolving adjudication anomalies related to external authorizations and benefit groups.
  • Maintains PharmaCare and PharmaNet master files by:
    • Updating patient registration, drug pricing and related information.
    • Initiating and tracking all connection/disconnection/moves/closure service requests to PharmaNet.
    • Registering pharmacies and suppliers; provides security access for pharmacies, hospital emergency rooms, medical practices and others; investigates and responds to queries related to drug information and to pharmacy connections.
    • Reviewing and resolving pharmacy banking requests and issues.
  • Processes prosthetic and orthotic surgical pre-authorization requests including validating information/documentation from providers, accepting or rejecting requests, representing HIBC on the Prosthetics & Orthotics Committee and re-calculating financial information as required; maintains applicant files and releases (or not) personal information to 3rd party requesters.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience: 
  • Diploma in a related field such as administration or Pharmacy Technician Diploma / Certificate.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a business or public sector environment, handling confidential information and dealing with customer inquiries over the phone.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of PharmaCare policies
  • Advanced knowledge of PharmaNet
